In Sanskrit, 'chit' means 'pure knowledge' or 'Consciousness' and 'maya' means "full of". Bhagavat Geeta is the essence of Vedic knowledge, spoken by the Lord himself to his true devotee, Arjuna.Chinmaya Geeta at CMRDU includes participation by students of Balavihar as well as their families. Each year, the focus is on a specific chapter of Bhagavat Geeta. Each week, children are taught 2 new verses from the chapter during the General Assembly. There will be a special chanting practice session every other Sunday from 11:30-12:00. Open to all, it's purpose is not only to practice chanting the previously learnt verses but do it as a group. Additionally, children will have an opportunity to showcase their Geeta Chanting at local events as well as on CMRDU Parents Day. Children should bring the Geeta book to every class and are encouraged to benefit from the audio CD available for free at CMRDU. Chinmaya Geeta culminates in the annual 'Geeta Chanting' contests and winners will be recognized at the end of the year event.
This continuous practice not only enhances the ability to chant with clarity and confidence but it may encourage the practitioner to seek deeper understanding of the meaning of Geeta.
